On October 25, 2018, we had the STINT Fellows Mid-term Workshop with all the nine current STINT Fellows located in Asia and the STINT management from Sweden. The seminar had been in Singapore for the last couple of years. However, this year we had the great opportunity to travel to Hong Kong and meet up at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). STINT made reservations for two nights for all the STINT Fellows flying into Hong Kong at the Hyatt Regency Hong Kong, Sha Tin, a really nice hotel adjacent to the Chinese University of Hong Kong and close by the MRT Station.
The day had a simple, but efficient, program, with presentations from all STINT Fellows and their experiences so far of being in the wild. We discussed the difference between Singapore, Hong Kong and Tokyo, both in term of teaching, students, group size and a lot of other aspects. This was both interesting and fun!
I talked about my thoughts on what I have done so far in terms of teaching and education at NTU. I focused the ideas of eLearning and working with IReS to make professional video material. But to tie the knot I also mentioned all the other things that I could only have done when living in Singapore – All the fairs, Conventions and Meetings going on all the time. Here you can download my slides.
Part of the day was dedicated to our host, CUHK, and we got overview presentations by the Centre for Learning Enhancement and Research (CLEAR) of College System at CUHK and a very nice tour of the Wu Yee Sun College!
The day ended with a nice Hong Kong style dinner with Peking Duck at The Michelin Star restaurant Lei Garden at New Town Plaza in Sha Tin. Not bad, not bad at all…
Many thanks to STINT and the Chinese University of Hong Kong for their hospitality. Glad to be part of this!
