Last Thursday, I had the privilege of once again organizing Karriärdagen IT (Career Day IT) at Umeå University, a tradition we’ve carried on for nearly 20 years. It is a day where we create meetings between students and industry, and it is always inspiring to see the energy, curiosity, and optimism for the future that emerge in these conversations.

The morning was dedicated to first-year students from the Master of Science in Interaction Technology and Designprogram and the Master of Science in Computing Science and Engineering program. In the afternoon, we opened up the event to all IT-interested students. In total, 36 local, national, and international IT companies and around 600 students participated, and the response from companies was fantastic. They highlighted the strong engagement of our students, which led to great interactions with students from all of our programs focusing on Science and Technology at Umeå University.

As the organizer, I find it incredibly rewarding to contribute to a meeting place that both inspires students and gives companies the opportunity to meet the IT engineers and interaction designers of the future. A warm thank you to my co-organizers Linda Bresäter, Lennart Steinvall, and of course all the students and companies who made the day such a success. As a hobby project, I feel very satisfied and now I’m looking forward to next year!
