There are some roles that feel a little more like home than others.

I’m very happy to say that I’m back as Program Director for the five-year integrated Master of Science program in Interaction Technology and Design (ID) at Umeå University!

I had the privilege of working with ID for 13 years, from 2011 to 2023, and after a few years away from the role, it feels both exciting and surprisingly familiar to be back.

ID has been a huge part of my academic life. It brings together so many of the things I care deeply about: engineering, interaction technology, design, UX, creativity, and, most importantly, creating great educational experiences together with students and colleagues.

A lot has happened since I first became Program Director in 2011, and both technology and higher education are changing faster than ever. That makes coming back especially exciting. There are new challenges to address, new opportunities to explore, and plenty of ideas about where we can take the program next.

It feels great to be back.
