Preparing lectures

Even though there have been some major negative and positive bumps on the planning route, that really has nothing to do with our stay in Singapore, I have now started to prepare some new lectures for the course Physics for Computing. This course is going to be the start of my co-teaching experience at NTU after summer.

Newton’s third law of motion

My responsibility will be Newtonian and classical mechanics in relation to the future profession within IT. The students will be fresh at the university with a limited background in physics, which makes the pedagogical grip on the lectures important for the students’ learning.  After some thoughts about what would be useful we landed in the most fundamental understanding of force, motion, mass, momentum, etc. There are some laws of that Newton-guy that should be mentioned and there will be a very nice opportunity to connect this to simple mobile games and simulations! In general having the physics right is really important for most visible application of CS/IT nowadays, since most of our use of IT is clearly integrated into (what some people would call) real life. This will be so much fun!

Furthermore I will give some lectures on prototyping and product/service development. But more on that later…
